stayAPT Suites recently debuted a long-term lodging brand that seeks to merge the convenience of hotels with the comfort and amenities of short term rentals, featuring a dedicated living room, full kitchen, and a separate bedroom.

The company is constructing 12 concept-enabled hotels to open in 2020, with an additional 30 locations slated for 2021. Fort Belvoir, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C., will receive the first location in May. stayAPT Suites has a goal of opening more than 200 franchise locations within the next five years, as recently reported by Lodging Magazine. It expected these locations will cater primarily to business, relocation, and leisure travelers.

“We saw an opportunity to reinvent long-term lodging and to provide our guests with what they really want—and that is the space and in-room amenities to truly live comfortably while traveling away from home,” said Gary A. DeLapp, stayAPT Suites president and CEO. “Our hotels are designed to provide guests with separate living, kitchen, and sleeping areas, just as they would experience in their personal residence. Most long-term lodging accommodations consist of a single room with a bed steps away from a small kitchenette. We’ve created an environment that goes well beyond that, giving travelers a better way to stay and live while away from home.”

Hotel-like accommodations that cater to the corporate traveler have been under the spotlight in recent months, with startup The Guild securing $25 million in Series B funding back in January, among other incidents. The business travel market is expected to reach $1,657 billion by 2023, growing at a CAGR of 4.1% from 2017 to 2023, according to a new report published by Allied Market Research.

The interior of each suite contains a range of amenities that are typically found in a full home, and not a hotel, including an open-concept living room with a sleeper sofa, a walk-in closet and a center island with seating between the kitchen and living area, among other features.

The outdoor amenities are reminiscent of a high-end hotel, featuring an outdoor courtyard area, a built-in grill station and a fire pit. Each location will also be equipped with an on-site laundry room and a fitness facility.

“It’s a game-changer for long-term lodging,” DeLapp concluded.
